Mission Statement
The mission of the Search and Rescue Teams of Warren County (SARTWC) is to provide professional nationally trained and certified search and rescue volunteers to law enforcement and OEM (Office of Emergency Management) agencies and work collaboratively in searches, recoveries, and rescues of persons who are missing. The SARTWC will also provide community outreach through education and will work cooperatively with other agencies so “that others may live”.
Our History
For years there was no formal search and rescue team in Warren County, NJ and the area depended on people from the local police, ambulance, fire, and road departments to search for missing people. In November of 2007, several people got together to train dogs and discussed developing a formal search team. On April 9, 2008 the Search and Rescue Teams of Warren County was founded with 16 members from a variety of backgrounds including EMS, Fire, Police, Nursing, and Military. These dedicated volunteers have committed themselves to the training it takes to quickly and efficiently find a person who is lost.
The Hug-A-Tree and Survive Program
SARTWC presents the Hug-A-Tree program in schools and to organizations throughout Warren County. This NASAR approved program is designed to teach children what to do in case they get lost in the woods and how they can stay alive until a search team finds them.
SARTWC is a proud member of the National Association for Search and Rescue
